Beware - I took my car in and was told I needed a new radiator and 3 hoses - $2000. I just took it to another place in Longmont, a BMW specialist. I need one upper radiator hose - $284. The radiator is fine.
I was shocked!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Donna M.San Francisco, CA01Apr 21, 2023
My daughter took her car in for new spark plugs after Napa recommended them. The mechanic broke 1 off inside the engine and they wanted to charge us $2,500.00 to fix the issue they caused. My daughter's car drove in there but had to be towed away. The manager Mark Shy just continued repeating "Its not our fault", every other business I talked with about this stated that as a "reputable" business you fix it then let the customer know what happened. We asked they start an insurance claim, my daughter heard from a woman 1time by phone then said a separate adjuster would be out for independent review. She got an email stating it was not their fault and after several attempts to contact her never heard back. We are not even sure she was really an insurance person at this point. We picked up the car and NOBODY came out to say anything!!!!!! Stand behind your work with honesty and integrity not charge a college student what your mechanic broke!!!! Several mechanics we talked to said there had to be significant force to snap the plug off like that and in their opinion, it is on the mechanic to fix. I will NEVER recommend this company ever as their customer service is the absolute worst and all they care about is creating more business by breaking vehicles. Now my daughter is stuck with a non-running vehicle, is in college and working. There is something really wrong with a company that won't even try to work with a financially strapped person when they are responsible for the vehicle in their care. You broke it so you should fix it!

I brought my car, a beater in its truest form, into Stonum as a pully on my a/c unit was bad. They worked hard to find a solution that would keep my costs down, but were unable to put their faith into what they found available. Although I had to buy the whole unit, the fact that they really worked to keep my costs down did not go unnoticed...especially the fact that they didn't want to use a questionable part. Communication through the whole process was excellent, and they delivered the repaired car back to me actually earlier than they'd told me. The friendliness of the entire staff and quality of workmanship was truly a welcomed change from some places I'd tried. I'd recommend this group to anyone who needs a trustworthy place to bring their vehicle for needed work!!!

Took car in for radiator. After paying $800 to have them try to fit 4 different radiators (FOUR?????) in my car, we drove it for 2 days before head gasket blew and car stalled and then began SHAKING, AFTER TWO DAYS OF HAVING IT and paying $75 to have it FULLY looked over. They checked about 30 things on my car and not one of the issues was the head gasket. In fact, the most important thing that was supposed to be fixed after radiator was brakes, which was quoted to fix @ $900, not head gasket. I have been advised by other mechanic shops that Stonum should have known the gasket wasn't working IMMEDIATELY, that there is no way that a head gasket would blow two days after taking it into shop, and that Stonum should have been able to tell there were issues with the gasket before I drove it off the lot. Took it back in hoping they would fess up to doing a crappy job, but no, instead, they quoted me a $2700 fix to my head gasket!!!!! Checked around Longmont and got quoted by an honest mechanical shop with integrity for closer to $1100. A $1600 difference????!!!!!! And Stonum said they stand by their work but not once did they advise they may have screwed up my engine by NOT CHECKING THE HEAD GASKET WHICH THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN HAD ISSUES BASED ON PRESSURE or radiator spewing back into the engine WHILE IT WAS STILL IN THEIR SHOP. I took it in with full radiator and when they called me back they told me it was empty, which was a lie (it had been holding fluid for over week before they "fixed" it on their lot). Then, after having to get it towed back to have them RECHECK the 4th radiator they put in, and after radiator fluid was splashed all over interior of engine and got INTO the engine causing it NOT TO WORK AND OVERHEAT AGAIN (their fault), not once did Stonum try to take ANY responsibility. I was told there is no way a head gasked would BLOW TWO DAYS AFTER radiator and coolant system was "looked at/ fixed" UNLESS THEY NEVER did their due diligence and CHECKED IT prior to letting it be driven off lot. STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY from STONUM AND THEIR POOR SERVICE AND THEIR HIGH COSTS! They ruined my engine but I found another shop who actually knows what they are doing.

I paid them 130$ for inspection and they quoted me for over 850$ in unwarranted repairs. I had what needed to be done for 250$ elsewhere. One of these jobs takes 5 minutes to perform, it needed a 20$ part and Stonum asked for over 200$ to do it (other guys did it for free of course).
Beware. They're counting on ignorant compliance to make money. I was counting on all these 5 star reviews to keep me driving. Do your research and ask around - Yelp won't tell you everything.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 6, 2017
First time customers and I am happy to say Stonum came through. Travis and Shaw are awesome to work with and kept me appraised on the progress of my vehicle. Originally took it in for an oil change and a small oil leak. Shawn trouble shot the issue and let me know his findings. I authorized the work to be completed and they came through. I think we've found a new partner for our vehicle care. Thanks John for a great first experience and a highly professional team.

These guys did some minor body work for me on my Chevy Tahoe. I came back with the door panel not seated on quite right. I called and they were super professional about it. Said to bring it right over and they would get it taken care of right away. The service was super professional and fair pricing. I like these guys. I'll come back.
Also, while I was waiting in the lobby, I heard one of the mechanics come in and talk to the front desk staff about someone's repair. They were brainstorming ideas of ways to save the customer money. Thought that was pretty neat. Kudos to you guys!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Shane A.Denver, CO9080Oct 15, 2014
Went in with a used car look over and it was the most through inspection i've ever seen. The mechanic noticed a huge issue but also let me know that the issue is under warranty!
Great service as well!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kyla P.Longmont, CO04Mar 26, 2018
Completely misdiagnosed our truck after an accident. After 6 months of repairs, took it somewhere else who found there was still a bent axle, no 4WD and so much more. We told them over and over that the 4WD was not working and that it made a horrible noise, still said they couldn't find anything wrong. Huge disappointment. The only positive is that I didn't pay them a dime, the other guys insurance paid. Save your money and time and go elsewhere.

Charged for an AC service when there wasn't even a belt on the AC motor. Super disappointed. I just bought a used Jaguar X-type and the AC wasn't working so I brought it in for them to take a look at it and tell me what the problem was. After "servicing the AC" and "charging the system (adding AC fluid)" they determined that the AC motor had seized. After bringing it home and looking into it myself I find that there isn't even a belt on the AC motor! WTH GUYS! If I can figure that out myself why the hell am I paying you to do an AC service??? I could just diagnose my own automotive problems and bring it somewhere where they don't charge me for servicing an AC that's not even got a belt on it. People who lead busy lives working demanding jobs who need mechanics to take care of their vehicles shouldn't have to figure the problem out themselves after paying a mechanic to look into for them! Brings new meaning to the term "carsickness".
